Live Clean and Beautifully From the Inside Out
This past summer I found myself learning more and more about ways to nourish my body so I can look and feel beautifully from the inside out. Let’s be honest, the self care section at Indigo can be a bit overwhelming at times with so much selection of great books on ways we can take care of ourselves. But, after frequent visits I finally narrowed it down to two books that worked for me (and below I will explain why). What I learned about myself and about my nature is that I enjoy visual stimulation. I prefer books that have beautiful photography that inspire me and ignite my passion.
First on my reading list was Kelly Leveque’s “Body Love”. I absolutely fell in love with this book. Now, if you follow along with me on Instagram you would have seen me post countless delicious smoothie recipes I experimented with. To say that I am OBSESSED is an understatement. Her book is filled with tips and recourses on supplements and cleansing and includes dozens of delicious and healthy recipes. She also includes advice on how to adjust your eating when traveling and on vacation. Body Love has been my one-stop resource to living clean and happy.
Second, on the list was “Eat Beautiful” by Wendy Rowe is all about how to achieve glowing skin I repeat myself GLOW SKIN….who doesn’t want that? Wendy Rowe is a makeup artist and skin-care guru for some of Hollywood’s most beautiful faces including Victoria Beckham and Sienna Miller. Her experiences in the industry led her to a beauty philosophy rooted in skin nourishment by what foods we are consuming.
I will be completely honest with you, the last couple months of work had been very stressful and it was written all over my face. I had breakouts and redness and had to do something about it. Now, you know when they say “don’t judge a book by it’s cover… well, that’s exactly what I did when I saw Eat Beautiful on the bookshelf. The blush pink cover and rose gold foil wording immediately grabbed my attention. And, remember when I said I enjoy visual stimulation? Eat Beautiful is exactly that! From the stunning and Pinterest worthy photography I knew I had to have this book. This book provides simple and healthy recipes using key food ingredients to support glowing skin. The book is seasonally categorized in to the four seasons so you can follow the plan according to the season. What I loved most about this book is that she connects common dietary mistakes to skin problems, and produces lists of ways to solve the problem. The seasonal ingredients she mentions allows you to see the skin benefits of foods such a pumpkin which include antioxidants to promote a glowing, healthy completion and help reverse UV damage from the summer. Overall, this book ensures radiant and glowing skin all year around.
