Headbands are back and are officially taking over!

2019 will be the year of HEADBAND- mark.my.words. Headbands are nothing new in the accessory world and have been around for years. Headbands are usually associated with “youth-fullness “and totally bring me back to the 90’s (you know the UBER 90’s preppy look? That’s what I’m talking about!) But, this year they are EVERYWHERE! On the heads of international influencers, IT girls, all over the runways and most recently featured in Spring/Summer 2019 campaigns such as Miu Miu. From crystals, jewels, pearls, and braided headbands there are endless options to choose from. Lately I have been totally in love/OBSESSED with this trend that adds that little extra statement to my outfits so I can look chic day to night (and if your anything like me who is constantly tucking your hair behind your ears, handbands will put a stop to that ;) 

My headband collection has been growing rapidly – and I don’t think its going to slow down any time soon. My velvet black headband is for my “off-duty days” when I wear my denim or a denim jacket and instantly elevates my look unexpectedly. My personal favourite headbands are ones that have beautiful feminine embellishments such as pearls. They play up on feminine charm and add that extra WOW! Recently, I styled my ivory pearl headband with a chic cocktail length dress, and a flowy skirt but, there are so many other ways I would style this headband- a LBD, a pleated skirt, a jumpsuit… the options are endless!

 How to Style: 

I have found that the easiest part of this look is the styling. Fabric headbands or ones with embellishments can be worn with a high pony, loose waves or curls. You can basically style a headband with any hair style, but the key is to make sure you have lots of volume. I usually spray some dry shampoo at my roots to amp up the volume (this also gives you a bit more of a “retro “look …which is also so in at the moment!). 

 Whether your personal style is vintage inspired, Parisian inspired, boho, or casual chic, …I hope you give this headband trend a try and consider how practical this headpiece can actually be.
